TN, West Bengal won’t allow screening of the film
Lucknow: The recently released film “The Kerala Story” has generated a lot of political heat in the country. Many BJP-ruled states have made it tax-free.
The Yogi Aditya Nath-led Uttar Pradesh government has decided to make the recently released film, “The Kerala Story” tax-free.
The Madhya Pradesh government led by Shivraj Singh Chouhan has already made it tax-free on May 6.
Not only that, Home Minister of Madhya Pradesh Narottam Mishra presented tickets of the film to Congress leader Digvijaya Singh.
The film has turned into a propaganda machinery for the BJP. The BJP leaders have already used it to target the minority community, the Congress said.
Yogi made the announcement on Tuesday. In a tweet, the Chief Minister said that “The Kerala Story” would be made tax-free.
The Chief Minister is likely to watch the movie along with his cabinet colleagues at a special screening of the film.
Nevertheless, the Tamil Nadu government led by Stalin and the West Bengal government led by Mamata Banerjee banned screening of the film in their states.
Stalin as well as Banerjee said that the film would only cause breach of peace.
Nonetheless, according to Chouhan, the film exposes the true story of love Jihad, religious conversions and terrorism.
Chouhan further said the film described how daughters fell into the trap of love Jihad and how they were ruined.
A social worker in West Bengal, Tarun Chatterjee, said if that was the reason for making such a film, it should not have been released before Karnataka assembly election.
The BJP known for whipping up communal passion to get electoral gains is using the film, he said.
Several BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleged during electioneering in Karnataka that the Congress had links with terrorists and Popular Front of India or PFI, a terrorist outfit.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has hurled a retort at the Prime Minister, saying two members of his family had fallen prey to the bullets of terrorists, so he knows what terrorism is better than Modi does.
