Pilibhit (UP): Violated by her stepson for months and her husband’s friends, a 30-year-old woman has dashed off a letter to President Droupadi Murmu, seeking mercy killing. In the letter, she said she had lost all hopes of justice, as the police did not deliberately arrest any of the accused, although she filed an FIR on October 9 this year after a court order.

The woman said that she had been getting threats from the rapists asking her to keep mum on the abuse. She said that she had struggled a lot for justice, but she did not get it, so she wanted President’s permission for death by euthanasia.

According to the woman, she tied the knot with a 55-year-old farmer from Chandigarh after her divorce three years ago. The farmer, too, is a divorcee. She alleged that her stepson had approached her for having illicit relations with her in April and he repeatedly sexually assaulted her. As her stepson threatened her with dire consequences, she initially remained mum over the issue. When she was pregnant and wanted to for a DNA test, she was brutally hit in the abdomen and forced to abort the foetus.

The woman alleged that a few relatives and friends of her husband had taken her to a farmhouse on July 18 and gang-raped her there. Her complaints fell on deaf ears. She filed a petition in the court that asked the police to register an FIR against the culprits. As the place where the woman lives comes under the Puranpur Kotwali police station, an FIR against the culprits was registered there, but none of the culprits have been taken into custody. The woman now lives with her mother, brother and six-year-old son from her previous marriage.

According to superintendent of police Dinesh Kumar Prabhu, as the case is complicated, the cops are investigating it, and, when the inquiry will end, they will take action against the culprits accordingly.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police, Dinesh Kumar Prabhu, said,
