Saharanpur: A man strangled his 70-year-old grandfather at his house in Sadhauli village of Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur district, the police said on Monday. The reason for the murder was that the man identified as Piruva refused to give money to his grandson for drugs.

According to a complaint lodged at the Sadhauli police station, Sonu had an altercation with his grandfather for money to buy drugs. His grandfather’s refusal to give money enraged Sonu so much that he strangled the elderly man. According to family members of Piruva, Sonu, a drug addict, regularly demanded money from his grandfather and had a fight with him. According to the police, Sonu was arrested from a nearby bus stand and a case registered against him. Piruva’s body has been sent for post mortem.
