Lucknow (UP): A man sexually harassed and threatened a girl who lodged complaint against the culprit, the police said. The incident occurred when the girl refused to withdraw a case that she had lodged against him in connection with another issue. The Sarojini Nagar police in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, registered a case against the man on Saturday. When the girl went to Para area for some work and was waiting for an auto-rickshaw to return home on October 13, the man came to her on a two-wheeler and asked her to withdraw the case and threatened her with dire consequences.

The girl said that the man had passed lewd comments and asked her to withdraw the case she had lodged against him. Immediately after that, she boarded an auto rickshaw and headed for her home, but the man continued to follow her, besides he forcibly stopped her and caught her hand, the girl said.

The man slapped her twice and hurled abuses at her and her family, she said, adding that as she had phoned her brother, he reached the spot and the culprit ran away. She further said that she was living in fear, because the man could harm her.
