Lucknow: The rising number of dengue cases in the state capital has drawn the attention of the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court. The court has asked Lucknow Municipal Corporation, additional chief secretary (health) and the chief medical officer to inform it about the steps taken by the authorities to curb dengue, chimungunya and viral fever.
A division bench of Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay and Justice Saurabh Srivastava issued the directive to the state while they were hearing a public interest litigation filed by Ashish Kumar Mishra. The court said, “Learned counsel representing these parties shall be appropriately briefed as to what effective steps are being taken/have been taken by the state authorities and the municipal authorities not only for prevention of spread of such vector-borne diseases but also for providing adequate medical facilities to patients suffering from such diseases.”
