Shamli (UP): After the body of a young girl recovered from a canal in Uttarakhand on Saturday, a decomposed body of a woman in her twenties was found near the eastern Yamuna canal in Bhandeda Udda village of Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli district, the police said on Sunday. The body was stuffed in a sack.
The body could not be identified. According to station house officer at Thana Bhawan Anil Kumar, the police have sent the body for post mortem and photographs to nearby police stations to identify the girl.
Sources in the police department said that the woman may have been killed a few days ago and her body thrown near the eastern Yamuna canal. As missing person complaints have not been lodged in any of the police stations in nearby districts, it seems the girl belonged to some other place and had been brought to Bhandeda Udda village before being killed.
Similarly, a 19-year-old girl Ankita Bhandari was killed in Uttarakhand and her body was found in the Chilla canal in the state on Saturday. She was reported missing for five days. In the aftermath of the murder, there was resentment among public. A leader of the Bharatiya Janata (BJP) and his two sons have been arrested in connection with the incident.
