Dy SP found drunk in duty hours suspended

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has suspended a deputy superintendent of police Vinod Kumar Sharma on the changes of indiscipline, official sources said on Tuesday. In a video clip, which went viral on social media recently, Sharma was seen in a drunken state during duty hours.

Immediately after the video clip went viral on social media, a complaint about Sharma was made to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. On receiving the complaint, the Chief Minister ordered an inquiry into the case and, after a police officer had been found guilty of being drunk during duty hours, he was suspended.

The government took the action on the grounds of a departmental inquiry against him. Before his suspension, he was posted to Lalitpur.

Senior officials of the home department confirmed that Sharma, who had been promoted to the post of deputy superintendent of police last year, was suspended.
