Varanasi (UP): A 32-year-old man jumped out of a moving train after his three-year-old daughter fell off it and both of them died, the police said on Monday. The incident occurred near Baheda halt under Mirzamurad police circle on Sunday. The bodies were sent for post-mortem.
Police further said that Hira Rain was travelling from Delhi to Bihar with his wife Zarina, daughter and brother-in-law Firoz.
As the train was overcrowded, they were sitting near the door. Just as the girl fell off the train, Hira Rain jumped out of it to save his daughter. His wife pulled the emergency chain to stop the train.
Other passengers also got off the train, but by the time they came out of it, the girl had died. The man also died on the way to hospital, the police further said.
According to inspector of Mirzamurad police station Rajiv Singh, the bodies have been sent for post-mortem and local relatives of the family were informed about the incident.
