Mathura (UP): A 55-year-old priest was found dead in a temple in Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, the police said. Sudhakar Das alias Lal Baba was on a bench on the premises of Chamar Devi temple under Jaint police station. According to station house officer Arun Panwar, Sudhakar Da was a resident of Madhya Pradesh. He lived in Burjwaale Mata temple. He went to Chamar Devi temple on Monday to perform a special religious ritual on the occasion of Navratri, Panwar said.
Locals said there was a dispute over the land on which Burjewaale Mata temple was built. He was getting threats from unidentified people because of the dispute. Panwar said that his body had been sent for post mortem and an inquiry into the case was going on.
