Prayagraj: A few errors have crept into the national anthem printed in the Hindi text book “Vatika-5” meant for the students of class 5 in the Uttar Pradesh government-run primary schools. The books were distributed in Kaushambi, sources said on Tuesday. The two words – Utkal and Banga – were missing from the national anthem, sources said.
As soon as the errors came to the notice of the higher authorities, there was a major problem. Notices have been served on the basic Shikha Adhikari (BSA) of Mathura Deewan Singh Yadav and divisional education assistant director (basic education) in Agra Mahesh Chandra.
Both Yadav and Chandra were responsible to do the proof reading of the book so that there may not be any error before the books are distributed among students. Text book officer of the state government’s basic education department Shyam Kishore Tiwari issued the notices to the officials.
BSA of Kaushambi Prakash Singh also issued a show-cause notice to the publisher asking him to replace the books containing the errors.
When the books were distributed among the students, it came to light that Utkal and Banga were missing from the national anthem. Tiwari said that the mistakes committed by the publisher were serious in nature and that they had printed about 2.5 lakh copies of Vatika-5. Around one lakh copies of the book containing the mistake, he said.
The BSAs of ten districts, where the books were distributed among the students, have been asked to check the text books. A printing press in Mathura published the books. The districts are Bijnor, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Sambhal, Sonbhadra, Shamli, Kaushambi, Banda and Chitrakoot.
