Snakebite victim’s brother attends last rites, but falls prey to another serpent

Balrampur: A man dies of snakebite and his brother comes to attend his last rites, but he too falls prey to poison of another serpent. This is not a story written in a children’s book, but the incident is the real one which occurred in Bhawanipur village of Uttar Pradesh’s Balram district on Thursday.  The police said that 22-year-old Govind Mishra had attended the last rites of his 38-year-old brother Arvind Mishra on Wednesday. He died of snakebite on Tuesday.

Govind Mishra also died of snakebite when he was sleeping. Similarly, another snake has bitten a relative of the Mishras, Chandrashekhar Pandey, who is under treatment, but critical, the police said. Both Govind and Chandrashekhar came to Bhawanipur from Ludhiana to attend the last rites of Arvind Mishra. On getting information, local MLA Kailash Nath Shukla, senior medical and administrative officers rushed to the spot to meet the family members.
