Over flowing Ganga water nun dates many areas in Varanasi

Varanasi: The overflowing Ganga waters inundated many farmlands and residential areas located on the banks of the river and on its tributary Varuna in Varanasi on Saturday, sources said. The flood water affected 18 municipal wards and more than 80 villages. According to the Central Water Commission, the water level of the Ganga and the Varuna crossed the danger of 71.26 metres and reached 71.50 meters. More than 10,000 flood-hit people were shifted to relief camps, an official said.

The official further said that the rescue teams of the administration were working round the clock to deal with the situation. Besides, women have been given “dignity kits” that include sanitary items and soaps.
