New Delhi: High Court Judge S. Muralidhar, who was hearing the violence erupted in the CAA protest in the northeast region of the national capital Delhi, has been transferred yesterday (February 26).
S Muralidhar was transferred to Punjab and Haryana High Court last night. The notification of the transfer of Justice Muralidhar was released by the Central Government on Wednesday night.
The Supreme Court recommended the transfer only on 12 February 2020, but the notification has been issued two weeks later. So far 32 people have died in the violence in North East Delhi. In which one Delhi head constable Ratanlal and one IB officer Ankit Sharma have also died. More than 200 people have been injured.
Delhi Police said that 106 people have been arrested and 18 FIRs have been registered for their alleged involvement in the violence. Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Mandeep Singh Randhawa told reporters, “No untoward incident was reported on Wednesday (26 February) and PCR calls from North East Delhi decreased.” The death toll rose to 27 on Wednesday, the third day of violence.
