Siddharthnagar: The district police registered an FIR against a group of persons for maltreating a woman after a video clip of the incident went viral on social media, sources said on Saturday. The incident occurred in Shohrat Garh area. According to superintendent of police Amit Anand, a circle officer has been asked to investigate the case. The video shows a group of men and women looking at a female whose hands were tied to a rope.

Locals said that the incident had occurred a week ago after the woman who is married was found with her lover. The villagers let her go home. Anand said that the police were trying to find out the woman and those who misbehaved with her.
