New Delhi: So far 18 people have died, including a head constable, in the violence taking place in the North East Delhi area in the last three days. In view of such situation, on Tuesday night, police has now been ordered to shoot the rioters on sight. At the same time, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval reached the violence affected areas late on Tuesday to take stock of the situation. He reviewed the situation in violence affected areas like Seelampur, Bhajanpura, Maujpur, Yamuna Vihar.
Doval reached DCP office in North East Delhi at Seelampur at around 11:30 pm. Meeting here, he reviewed the security situation in the city. In this meeting which lasted for about an hour, DCP North-East, Special Police Commissioner (Law and Order) S. N. Srivastava and other senior officials joined.
On Tuesday, fresh violence erupted in northeast Delhi, with the death toll rising to 13. The police was struggling to control the crowd which was roaming in the streets. People in the crowd were setting shops on fire, stone pelting and assaulting locals. On the second day of tension in the northeastern region of the national capital, violence spread to many areas including Chandbagh and Bhajanpura.
