New Delhi: The ongoing protests in Delhi over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) are becoming violent. Due to this protest, Delhi’s day was wretched for today.
A head constable died due to uncontrolled ruckus and a protestor also succumbed. Let us tell that a head constable named Ratan Lal was killed in the firing done by the opponents. Head Constable Ratan Lal was associated with the office of Assistant Commissioner of Police.
Not only this, the protesters also set two houses on fire in Maujpur. Public hooliganism was done in the name of protest. On Monday, both supporters and opponents of the CAA came face to face in Maujpur. There was heavy stone pelting on both sides. Many trains were set on fire. Buses were blown. To overcome the situation, heavy police forces have been deployed in tense areas of North-East Delhi.
Five stations on the Pink Line metro have been closed in view of violent clashes between the opponents and supporters of the amended Nagarkita Act in north-east Delhi. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) tweeted, “Entrance and exit gates of Jafrabad, Maujpur-Babarpur, Gokalpuri, Johri Enclave and Shiv Vihar Metro stations have been closed. Trains will go to the Welcome Metro station. ”A Delhi Police head constable was killed and Deputy Commissioner of Police injured in a clash over the revised citizenship law in North East Delhi’s Jafrabad, Maujpur and Chandbagh. The protesters set houses, shops and vehicles on fire and also pelted stones at each other. Earlier, DMRC closed the Zafarabad and Maujpur-Babarpur metro stations due to the demonstrations.
A Delhi Police head constable was killed and Deputy Commissioner of Police was injured in clashes over the amended citizenship law in Zafarabad and Maujpur areas. Pro-CAA and anti-protesters pelted stones at each other and then set houses, shops and vehicles on fire. Apart from this, there were also reports of violence between CAA opponents and supporters in Chandbagh and Bhajanpura areas. This is the second day of violence in these areas.
