Ballia (UP): After the rape and murder of two minor Dalit sisters in Lakhimpur-Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh, another minor Dalit girl was raped in Ballia district of the state. The incident came to light after a man was arrested for violating a 13-year-old girl in Ballia district on September 11, the police said on Thursday.
According to circle officer (CO) Mohammad Usman, both the girl and the culprit belonged to the same village under Bairia police station. On the ground of the complaint lodged by the girl’s brother, a case has been registered under various sections of the Protection of Children from Offences (POSCO) Act and SC/ST Act. The girl has been sent for medical examination, Usman said.
A report from Lakhimpur Kheri says six men were arrested in connection with the murder and rape of the Dalit sisters who were found hanging from a branch of a tree.
Four minor Dalit girls have been raped in a row. A Dalit girl was gang-raped and set afire in Pilibhit. The child is undergoing treatment in a hospital in Lucknow.
