Bihar Shelter Home Case: Brajesh Thakur sentenced to life imprisonment

New Delhi: Brajesh Thakur, the main accused in the Muzaffarpur Shelter Home case, who has stirred the politics of Bihar, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the rest of his life. On January 20, the Saket court of Delhi convicted 19 accused, including Brajesh Thakur, in this case. All of them were convicted of sexual harassment of girls living in shelter homes. In this case, the court has also sentenced 11 others to life imprisonment.

Apart from this, the court acquitted one accused Mohammad Sahil alias Vicky for lack of evidence. The court of Additional Sessions Judge Saurabh Kulshrestha convicted 19 people, including the main accused, Brajesh Thakur, in his order of 1045 pages. A case under the Posco Act was also registered against the accused in this case.

Brajesh Thakur, who contested assembly elections on Bihar People’s Party ticket, was found guilty by the court. Under Section 6 of the Posco Act, Brajesh Thakur was convicted in the case of sexual harassment of minor girls and rape and gangrape under the provisions of IPC. The court found Brajesh Thakur guilty in several cases, including section 120-B (criminal conspiracy), section 324 (injuring with a dangerous weapon), section 323 (intentionally injuring) of the IPC.

Verma, former head of Muzaffarpur’s Child Welfare Committee (CWC), CWC member Kumar and other accused Guddu Patel, Kishan Kumar and Ramanuj Thakur for serious sexual harassment under Posco law, and criminal conspiracy, rape, gangrape under IPC and Posco Act Rape, hurt, abetment to rape and was convicted under Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act. Two accused – Ram Shankar Singh and Ashwini – were convicted of criminal conspiracy and abetment to rape.
