Women’s Day 2020 theme is “I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights”. The Generation Equality campaign highlights the fact that we live in an equally enabled world, where we are free to challenge stereotypes, improve women’s situations, celebrate women’s achievements and broaden perceptions.

“It’s unfair to clip a bird’s wings and then convince everyone that it wasn’t born good enough to fly as high as other birds? Women are born equal, but our patriarchal society and systems do their best to transform them into inferior beings. Even today females in our country have lesser facilities and opportunities, be it health, education, safety or work, and not to mention lesser remuneration for the same job. “I am a strong advocator of women’s rights but I feel that these are the basic rights that we as women have earned. These are not the rights that we are asking for or the rights that anyone can give us in charity. We as women have the capability to be self-empowered. This comes with basic things like standing for yourself, believing in yourself. Not letting anyone tell you that you are a weaker sex. We are not the weaker sex. Period. I am surrounded by men who believe inequality. If you see your husband, brother, father, boss, colleague, son doing something that hints towards patriarchy. Stop them.
