26 cops missing from duty sent to lines

Lucknow: It is not a missing person’s story one comes across daily, but the one related to 26 policemen who were missing from VVIP duty on Tuesday night. The story came to light when a few senior officers of the department conducted a surprise inspection and found them missing from duty.

All the missing cops were sent to lines on Wednesday. Superintendent of Police S Anand said that circle officer Akhand Pratap Singh  carried out a surprise checking on Tuesday night to see whether the policemen doing ministers’ security duty were present or not. He, however, found all the 26 cops missing from duty, Anand said.

The cops deployed at the residences of cabinet ministers Suresh Khanna, Jitin Prasada, district magistrate, district judge and at the treasury were not present on duty, Anand said. Instead of doing duty, they were enjoying the comforts of the restroom.
