Lucknow: Nearly 21 lakh farmers of Uttar Pradesh selected for Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, have been found ineligible, state agriculture minister Surya Pratap Shahi said on Wednesday. The issue came to light in an inquiry. He further said that the amount given to the ineligible farmers under the scheme would be recovered from them.
As many as 2.85 crore farmers were selected under the scheme in the state, and 21 lakhs of them were found ineligible, the minister said at a press conference. According to the minister, there are many such cases in which both husband and wife are getting the benefit of the scheme. He further said that 12th instalment of the Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme would be released by the month-end.
