17 students, 2 teachers fall ill in UP school

Date:

Gautam Buddha Nagar (UP): Nineteen people, including 17 students and two teachers of a school in Dankur area at Gautam Buddha Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, took ill on Thursday because of foul smell emanating from a nearby cowshed, the police said on Friday. As their conditions deteriorated, they were rushed to the Dankaur Primary Health Centre.

According to director of Swami Vivekanand Vidyapeeth School, lack of cleanliness at the cowshed was the reason for the foul smell coming from there. Seventeen people were sent to their homes after the first aid at the hospital. Nevertheless, the health of two female teachers were sent to FIMS hospital in Greater Noida. A volley of complaints was sent to the higher authorities about the dirt in the cowshed, but no action has been taken, the director said.

Manager of the cowshed committee Rajnikant Agarwal said that as lumpy skin disease was spreading among the cattle, medicine was sprayed and that led to the foul smell.
