It is a high tide of coronavirus pandemic now. Scientists are unsure if this is the highest peak in India and in fact are predicting that the months of May and June this year are going to be worse than what we are witnessing at the moment all over the country. Just in, a minister told the media upfront that how does the number of deaths matter because they are anyways not going to come back to life. Well, that’s how grave the situation is right now. As the vaccine supplies in various cities of the country, one can witness crowds there as well, although mask and social distancing are mandatory.
So, in all these situations, if you are thinking to travel to your nearby grocery shop to get your stuff, here are some tips:
1) Before leaving your home, carry a sanitizer bottle of Dettol or Lifebuoy or any recommended brand in your pocket or bag.
2) Ensure that you carry only bags that are of cloth material and also have a handkerchief.
3) Cover your face, nose, mouth with a mask and wear gloves if possible.
4) Once you are out of your home, do not touch the surfaces of your building or the stair railings. Avoid lifts if possible.
5) If you stay in a high-rise building and it is difficult to climb up or down the stairs, then travel in a lift but do not touch the lift buttons with bare hands. Wear gloves if not worn and apply sanitizers on your hands after coming out of the lift.
6) Now as you walk towards your grocery store that is hopefully nearby your home, do not join the crowd and in case there are only two or three people standing outside the store, then maintain social distancing.
7) Give the written list of items to the shopman and ask him to put all the items in the cloth bag. Do not touch the items with your hands. Pay the amount to the shopman and go back home.
8) If any known person comes near to you and wants to talk to you about the covid-situation, it is better you tell them to talk to you on phone and tell you are lacking time even if they don’t leave you.
9) Once reached home, keep the shopping bag on the floor near your door. Do not allow anyone to touch the items. You go directly to the washroom and take your chappals/shoes along with you.
10) Remove your gloves and mask and throw them in the dustbin. Now wash your hands, legs, face thoroughly with soap water. Take the chappals and shoes and also wash them soap water and hang them around to dry. Now from the area of your main door to the washroom, just wipe them with Dettol or Savlon water.
11) Now take all items one by one and keep them in one plate or bucket. Take the shopping bags and wash them with soap water and put them to dry. After a while, you can keep all the items that you have purchased at the designated place at your home.
Staying clean and hygienic is of utmost importance and need of the hour. Hope you take all the necessary precautions and live safely at your home.
