Lord Ganesha’s idol was kept by Shri Dagdusheth Halwai and his wife Lakshmibai in the temple in Pune because they lost their only son(s) due to the plague epidemic. The entire family of Shri Dagdusheth Halwai and his wife Lakshmibai along with their neighbors came ahead to celebrate the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi with great enthusiasm. Thus in 1952, Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati temple was officially launched as the responsibility came upon Tatyasaheb and his friends’ group.
