Aadi Maasam or Aadi month is a month that has started on 17th July and ends on 16th August 2022 as per the Tamil calendar. The dates would differ for different states as per their regional calendar. The specialty of this month is that it is celebrated by women by praying to the Goddesses during the monsoon season. The worship is mainly done in the form of Bhagavathy Seva, which is a ritual observed in the evenings throughout the Aadi month in various Devi temples. The ritual is done to get peace, happiness, and prosperity in life.

Aadi Pooram is also a day celebrated on 1st August 2022, Monday this year in all Lord Vishnu and Devi temples located in Tamil Nadu and different parts of the country. On this day, it is believed that Goddess Andal and Sri Ranganathaswamy’s marriage is held, which is also known as Thirukalyanam. It is also believed Pooram is the birth star of Aandal and so Aadi Pooram is celebrated in a grand manner. Many women devotees also offer bangles of green and red color to the Andal Goddess as a mark to celebrate the festival and get their wishes fulfilled.
