Indian travelers who have been looking forward to going to a foreign location in these coronavirus times have some good news. The famous destination where celebrities enjoyed last year’s lockdown period, yes the Maldives is planning to resume visa-on-arrival for Indian travelers from 15 July 2021.
So, if you are someone who has been jealous of all the celebrities who visited the beautiful location with their friends and families, you can now pack your books and book your tickets to the Maldives alone or with your friends or family. The government of Maldives has made an announcement that asks for a negative RT-PCR coronavirus test report to enter the country during a press conference and also updated the same to the Maldivian Tourism Ministry.
The press conference that was held in the President’s Office in the Maldives saw President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih making the announcement about how the country will allow South Asian travelers to enter the Maldives by issuing tourist visas.
The tourism ministry also wrote on Twitter, “The Maldives will start issuing on-arrival tourist visas starting 15th July to tourists traveling from South Asia. Tourists require negative PCR results to enter the Maldives. Further details will follow accordingly”.
Travelers with work visas can enter the country from today onwards but they would have to quarantine themselves in the Maldives. The island nation has just been in news in India as many celebrities were seen flaunting their bikini pictures and happiness on spending their evenings at the beaches in the Maldives last year.
The first wave of the coronavirus pandemic wasn’t deadly as the second wave was and thus, Maldives had closed its borders for Indian travelers last month. But as the cases are declining and people want to break away from the monotone life, the Maldives and many island nations are opening up for Indian travelers to spend some time close with nature and rejuvenate themselves for a fresher start.
