As we are cutting down the travel through bus, rail, metro, and airplane, there is an interesting article on transportation going on that talks about spaceships as a mode of regular transport. The government of Japan is in discussions with private companies to come up with an intercontinental passenger spaceship network that will allow passengers to fly to the important cities of the world within two hours or even less.
Recently, Japan’s technology ministry has launched a plan which has set 2040 as the timeline by which they will come up with such spaceships. Let me tell you that such an ambitious passenger spaceship network is estimated to touch around Rs. 33,472 crores.
Japan’s ministry will come up with different types of spaceships, one is quite identical to an airplane which can take off and do its landing on runways while the second one will be taking off and landing in a vertical direction. In the research conducted by the ministry, it has also found that there will be enough demand for such spaceships and its network that will connect major cities on the ground. In fact, this is the first time that the country has come up with such a concrete roadmap for spaceship networks.
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk had also suggested some years before, about a network that would allow people to adopt most long-distance trips within just half an hour and travel to any place on the Earth within an hour and the price of the same would be quite economical too like an airline ticket.
