Jagannath Temple Opens its Doors for Devotees

According to District Collector Samarth Verma, the Puri Jagannath temple will reopen to worshipers today, and all preparations have reached their final stages. According to the statement, residents of Puri town will be able to see Lord Jagannath and his siblings at the 12th-century shrine. From August 16 to August 20, inhabitants of the Puri Municipality will be given entrance for darshan. After that, on August 23, 2021, all worshippers will be allowed to see the Holy Trinity.

“We gave each home a token with the appropriate time slots written on it. At access points, eight kiosks with hand sanitizers, identity verification, and admission evidence for worshippers have been put up. Barricading has been put up to speed up darshan, with separate lines for old and divyang residents,” Verma explained.

Since April 24, 2021, the Shree Jagannath Temple has been closed to the general public due to the possibility of COVID-19 spreading. According to the administration’s newly issued SOP, the Jagannath temple would be closed to the public for darshan on all weekends, i.e., Saturdays and Sundays, to prevent the spread of Covid.

“A three-tier security system has been planned, and eight platoons of the police force will be deployed in the first phase,” Puri SP Kanwar Vishal Singh said. Our primary goal is to guarantee that the Covid-19 protocols are not broken.” According to Singh, sufficient troops would be deployed following an evaluation of the devotee turnout. The preliminary arrangements and other elements will assist us in assessing the situation in advance of the arrival of additional devotees on August 23, 2021.
