Every year people eagerly await the 15-day long festival of visiting Lord Jagannath in the Puri temple in Odisha by taking part in Rath Yatra.
This year, the festival began on 23 June 2020 and is being observed with full dedication.
However, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the Supreme Court order limited the number of devotees to attend the festival.
This year’s Rath Yatra witnessed safety measures, less number of people taking part and social distancing to protect people from the deadly virus.
Rath Yatra is also called as the chariot festival by many. Three chariots are used to carry the Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and sister Subhadra.
This year, Rath Yatra marks the 143rd year of the auspicious ritual. The entire town of Puri is decorated beautifully during the months of June and July every year as many people visit the town to get blessings of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and sister Subhadra.
