As the coronavirus cases are increasing rapidly, the government of Maharashtra has imposed stricter curbs to avoid the common public traveling by trains. However, people who are migrating to other states or the ones who are working in essential services still have to go by train to report to work.
Here are some tips on how you can travel safely despite the pandemic:
1) Wear your mask properly. Your mask should cover your nose and mouth. Don’t wear low-quality masks but get a good mask from a medical store or a shop that would act as a protection from the virus. If possible, you can carry 3 or more masks with you during your travel time that you can change and then throw the used masks in a dustbin. Do not throw away the used masks anywhere because no one is watching you. Be a responsible citizen.
2) You need to follow social distancing anywhere and everywhere you go. So, if your train is overcrowded or doesn’t have enough space to follow the physical distancing norms, it is better you catch another train. In case you find people are violating the covid-appropriate behavior by lowering their masks or trying to come closer while they sit or stand, then raise your voice and teach the people that they cannot kill people through their laxity and complacent behavior. You have all the rights to speak up for yourself and others.
3) Since lots of people travel in trains, there is a possibility that an infected or asymptomatic person would have also traveled in the same coach where you were sitting, so it is better you keep applying sanitizers to your hands at regular intervals and do not sit beside a person who is coughing or sneezing.
4) As soon as you reach your destination (Workplace/home), wash your hands, legs, face thoroughly with soap water. If possible, you can even carry extra clothes to change in a washroom. Do not get carried away by what people are saying in terms of relaxing the protocols. You are a responsible person who wants to live a good life and not suffer due to laziness. So, travel safely and take care of yourself.
