1) The hidden gem of Kerala is none other than St. Angelo Fort located in Kannur. It was developed in 1505 by Dom Francisco de Almeida. For the unaware, Dom was the first Portuguese Viceroy of India. The fort has been managed by the Archaeological Survey of India.

2) Another fort that is quite renowned in Kerala is the Pallipuram Fort in Ernakulam district. It is touted to be the ancient living European forts in India. It was built in 1503 by the people of Portugal and it is quite nearby to the Vypin island. No wonder why the fort attracts people from different parts of the country and the world for its shape of hexagonal and ancient history.

3) If you have been to Palakkad, then definitely visit the Palakkad Fort which was built in 1766 by the ruler of the Kingdom of Mysore called Hyder Ali Khan. If you have heard of Tipu Sultan then know that Hyder was his father. The government of Kerala has put its efforts into the good maintenance of the fort to make it a tourist attraction.
