A paradise of Rajasthan: Deogarh

Deogarh is known for its classic architecture, the thriving arts community, a beautiful lake and residential areas. It is the perfect trip to experience the true colours of Rajasthan.

Located on the eastern side of the Aravalli Hills range on top of a small hill, Deogarh has a small pond at its base. The rocks enclose the town in the east, Kali Ghati (Aravalli Range) in the west, Nathdwara Ghats to its south and Ajmer towards its north.

The Deogarh Palace is one of the landmark sites where the royals used to live earlier. They still occupy the portion of the palace, while the rest of the property has been converted into a luxury hotel. A meter gauge train runs from Deogarh to Marwar Junction, passing through the sanctuary and hills of Kali Ghati.

Deogarh has a few beautiful temples worth visiting. For example, the Kunjbihari Mandir, famous for several bats that live inside the roof of the structure. Another extraordinary temple is the Anjaneshwar Mahadev temple, famous for its naturally formed Shivalinga due to rainwater dissolving calcium in the rock. It is located in a mountain-cave having a small water body over it.

Deogarh has located 4 km inside the NH-8 (Mumbai-Delhi Highway); Kamlighat is the landmark. The best means of reaching Deogarh are the roads. Its neighbouring cities are Udaipur (140 km), Ajmer and Bhilwara.
