Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold may launch in India, spotted on the IMEI database.

Xiaomi launched its first-ever foldable smartphone last month to compete with Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Huawei Mate X2.

The smartphone has reportedly been spotted on the global and Indian IMEI databases. The information comes through a tweet by noted tipster Mukul Sharma. As per the tweet, the Mi Mix Fold has been listed with model number M2011J18G on the global IMEI database. The G on the model number indicates the international version of the phone.

The tipster claims that this hints at the phone’s launch outside of China in due time. He further adds that the device was also spotted on the Indian IMEI database. He clears, though, that it does not guarantee the launch in India.

“Xiaomi’s first-ever foldable is likely to launch globally as well. I have spotted the global variant (M2011J18G) on the IMEI database. Plus, though it does not guarantee it, the device has been registered on the Indian IMEI database, too,” Mukul wrote on Twitter.

Xiaomi has not revealed any information on such a launch for the Mi Mix Fold as of now. However, since the smartphone marks a new entry by Xiaomi in a completely new segment, it is likely to be made available throughout Xiaomi’s international markets.

As for its specifications, the Mi Mix Fold comes with an 8.01-inch WQHD+ flexible OLED display as primary, with a 4:3 aspect ratio and 900 nits of peak brightness. The cover display measures 6.5-inch with a 27:9 aspect ratio and 700 nits of peak brightness.

The firepower is taken care of by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Mi Mix Fold sports a triple rear camera setup with a 108-megapixel primary Samsung sensor, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and an 8-megapixel secondary sensor. At the front is a 20-megapixel selfie shooter.

The device is backed by a dual-cell 5,020mAh battery that supports 67W fast charging. Mi Mix Fold runs on Android 10 with MIUI 12 and comes with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

As for its plans in India, Xiaomi has launched the Mi 11 Ultra at a starting price of Rs 69,999. The smartphone comes with a Snapdragon 888 SoC and a secondary display as a highlight.
