The Facebook-owned messaging app has added a “View Once” function that allows users to share images and videos that will instantly disappear once they are viewed. According to the firm, it can’t be saved, forwarded, starred, or shared since it’s gone forever. If a user uses this function to send any material, they will not be able to store it to their smartphone since it is not feasible.
WhatsApp promotes view once as a consumer privacy tool, claiming that it can be used for casual but intimate photographs – such as putting on clothing in a store and asking a partner how they look or emailing someone a password. According to WhatsApp, the feature was designed to “provide users even greater control over their privacy,”
On the other hand, child protection activists are concerned that auto-vanishing texts might be used to hide evidence of child sexual abuse. Over the use of encrypted texting, the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) is already at war with WhatsApp’s parent firm, Facebook. Because of the encryption, only the sender and recipient may view the communications “in transit.” However, if communications are deleted automatically, devices seized in police searches may no longer hold evidence.

Your WhatsApp must be updated to the most recent version to use this function. To transmit a media in the View Once feature, send a photo like you normally would. This entails opening any conversation, individual or group, and uploading a photo or video — on iOS and Android, using the camera icon or the paperclip symbol, respectively. Press the View Once icon to the right of the text bar before pressing Send. It is the most common symbol, surrounded by a circle in the distinctive green colour of WhatsApp.
