YouTube which has been offering its services for free, is now aggressively finding ways to enrol people to its paid plans which are part of the premium model. The company has been extensively experimenting and testing markets by showing unskippable ads.
This new move by youtube will surely affect the user base of the app leading to an unpleasant experience of viewing ads and no access to 4k videos if they don’t convert into paid users.
There have been lot of ongoing discussions on platforms like Twitter and Reddit where users shared about the consistent notifications they have been receiving from YouTube suggesting them to switch to premium to continue streaming in 4K.
Every brand has some targets to meet and as per the Quarter 2 reports of YouTube the revenues were falling short by half a billion that the targets set. This could be precisely the reason for the brand for pushing their premium product to meet revenue targets.
The cost of YouTube premium is Rs 129 for the users who opt for auto renew process which is hassle free, and if you manually upgrade to premium for a month the cost is Rs 139. YouTube had quarter and yearly plans as well which are currently not present due to some internal changes. The brand also had more options of family pack and student plans to make it a more cost effective deal.
