1) First thing first, if you have a password that is just a name or just some numbers, then start thinking of some complex passwords. For example, you can use a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, special characters, and numbers and create such a strong password that none of your known persons or unknown persons can guess what the password is all about.
2) Stop using easily guessable names or words or patterns. For example, if you have the habit of keeping your birth date or marriage anniversary date or your child’s name as the password, then it is time to grow up. Because cybersecurity doesn’t like easy or simple things. You need not give hackers any chance to break into your accounts, especially by using such common and basic phrases.
3) It is time to be unique now, so think differently and out of the box. If you have the habit of reusing the same passwords for different accounts, then it is time to do some homework. You have to get rid of reusing passwords and ensure that each account has a different password. You can even use a password manager or note somewhere in a book how each of your accounts has a different and secured password.
4) Allow for Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). It means each of your online accounts must have to go through two-step verification, which improves your security. For the unversed, two-factor authentication is a two-time verification process in which a code is sent to your mobile device or tablet or any other device which gets unlocked only after confirmation.
5) Get into the habit of changing your passwords regularly so that you don’t fall prey to hackers who may find it challenging to get access to your personal accounts.
