Timeless Wisdom For Everyday Life

A second, a minute, a week, months, years and a lifetime. Time moves at such speed that no one is ever able to catch it. It passes by right in front of our eyes and yet we are unable to see it go.

Just few days back we were welcoming a new year with new hopes and now the first month of that same new year is almost growing old.

With everything moving at such fast pace, at times it is good to slow down and look at life through the words of great seers. To understand life at a deeper level.

In this article I bring for you some selected pearls from treasures of Saint Kabir. The ones which we can be used in everyday life. These quotes carry timeless wisdom. Wisdom which is much needed in today’s times, far more than ever.

Life lesson: Do not undermining anyone. You may never know the person you are undermining, what he is capable of.

Meaning: Don’t insult or undermine the little strand of grass under your feet. It’s only a matter of time when wind will pick up that strand and put it in your eye and then it can cause you immense pain.

Life lesson: Have patience, everything worth having takes time.

Meaning: The verse tells the heart to slow down and be patient because everything happens only when it’s the right time for it. Eagerness cannot shorten the gestation period of any task. If a gardener waters and cares for a tree more than required even then the tree will bear fruits only in its season.

Life lesson: For a good life focus on purification of thoughts and intentions rather than external appearance and pretensions.

Meaning: If a person has wicked nature and impure intentions then for him bathing and cleaning himself externally is useless. As due to his malign thoughts his personality will still be dirty and disgusting. Just like a fish, which despite of staying in water all her life is never clean and no matter how much one washes the fish still continues to stinks.

Life lesson: Speak pleasant and sweet. Use words which don’t hurt others.

Meaning: Neither a crow takes away anything from anyone nor does a cuckoo gives anyone anything. Yet no one likes crow, while everyone loves cuckoo and looks forward to her visits. This is the power of pleasant speech.

Life lesson: Stay composed and don’t lose hope no matter how adverse the situation is.

Meaning: Don’t regret or lose heart over what’s gone, be it people, opportunities or possessions. Keep faith and true nature at all times. Remember, if a boatsman has his boat along he will always find several passengers.

Lesson: Improve yourself rather than nit-picking others.

Meaning: Human nature is such that we never fail to look at shortcomings of others. We look at others’ faults, make fun and comment on them. However, we never notice or realise the numerous faults we have.
