Neeraj Chopra, India’s gold medalist at the Tokyo Olympics, has begun to lose weight accumulated during his layoff months following the Games.
Chopra, who is presently training in California, celebrated his 24th birthday last month.

These days, Neeraj follows a strict athlete’s lifestyle in which he has to join training sessions and preparations for the upcoming events.
Neeraj’s calendar for 2022 is jam-packed with competitions, and the 24-year-old believes he’s ready to take on new challenges. Chopra will compete in the Diamond Leagues, which will begin in May in Doha, Qatar.
In July, the World Athletics Championships will be held in Oregon, USA. The Commonwealth Games (August) and the Asian Games (September) are two major events on his calendar (September).
With so many events lined up one after another, Neeraj will have to make some tough decisions.

The World Championships, he remarked, are unquestionably the most important on his radar.
“For me, the World Championships are very important. If the Olympics were my primary aim in 2021, the World Championships would be my primary priority this year. For the time being, I’m coming back to my old fitness levels. Then my coach and physio have a detailed strategy in place for how we’ll exercise in the future and what areas I need to improve. I’ll resume javelin training after I’ve regained my previous fitness levels ” Neeraj remarked.
