New Delhi: Veteran Mithali Raj on Friday named Australia a strong contender for victory in the opening match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup against India. But they hope to score a lot of runs in this match and it will be a very close match.
Mithali wrote in a column for the ICC, ‘Australia will be a strong contender but India is also not weak. They have some very talented players and I think it will be a very close match and there will be a lot of runs in it.
Mithali said, “Both the teams have some great players – especially in the batting order and it will depend on who makes the required runs for their country that day.” Mithali said, “They are in an advantage because of Australia’s T20 record and their chances of winning the first match against India are slightly better”.
