Sports Desk – Annu Rani is a well-known Indian javelin thrower, born on August 28, 1992, in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. She is famous for her achievements in javelin throw.
Early Life:
Annu grew up in a small village and initially faced resistance from her family when she showed interest in sports. Her father, a farmer, didn’t think sports were suitable for girls. However, her brother saw her potential and encouraged her.
Annu even made her first javelin from bamboo because they couldn’t afford to buy one.
Career Achievements:
World Championships: Annu was the first Indian woman to compete in the finals of the women’s javelin throw at the World Championships in Doha in 2019.
Olympics: She participated in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics based on her rankings.
Commonwealth and Asian Games: She won a bronze medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and a gold medal at the 2023 Asian Games.
Annu started training seriously in athletics when she was 18 years old. She proved her talent by setting a new national record in 2014.
