Former Australia bowler Tom Moody called the Hardik Pandya’s trade move from Gujarat Titans to 5-time champions Mumbai India as a masterstroke. After a successful stint with GT, where he captained the group to their maiden IPL identity in 2022 and led them to the finals in 2023, Pandya has again to team Mumbai Indians, the franchise in which he commenced his IPL profession in 2015.

Pandya’s move is a masterstroke. 

Taking to social media platform ‘X’, Moody referred to Pandya’s move to MI as a masterstroke, including that GT, has come off for the move. This flow makes Hardik Pandya one of the few captains to be traded within the IPL, becoming a member of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ajinkya Rahane, who were traded in 2020. He moved to the Mumbai Indians team after the franchise deadline of 5 pm to declare the list of players.

Of the 3 franchises’ worried experience, Titans have come off the worst,” Moody published on ‘X.’ Hardik Pandya’s profession has been marked with impressive performances regionally and worldwide. He has played for the Baroda cricket crew since 2013 and has represented India in all three parts of the game.

International achievements of Hardik Pandya 

His international achievements include being a part of the Indian team that became the runner-up in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and prevailing in the Asia Cup the same year.

To the surprise of many, Gujarat Titans opted to hold Pandya before completing the trade to MI beforehand of the IPL 2023 mini-public sale set to be held in Dubai on December 19. GT retained their captain but launched the likes of West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph and Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka.

Who is runner-up in the absence of Hardik 

MI, 5-time champions, were left with just Rs 15.25 crore after the retentions were finished on Sunday. In absence of Pandya, Shubman Gill is plays as front-runner in Gujarat Titans. By the deadline, Hardik was still part of the Gujarat Titans team, and another player, Cameron Green, was included in the list of retained players of Mumbai Indians. 

According to IPL rules, the window of player trading starts at the beginning of the month and follows up to the season’s end. It stays open till the auction date comes. Then, it continues till the end of the month before starting the next season. It means the trading windows will open till December 12, with the auction date scheduled for December 19, and open till December 20 before the 2024 season starts.
