Two-time World Champions Argentina took on Croatia in the first semi-final of the FIFA World Cup 2022. Both teams played this match at the Lusail Stadium in Doha. Interestingly, the Croatian side dominated in the first 30 minutes of the game. But the tables turned in favor of the Argentine side in the 34th minute of the match when the skipper and veteran center-forward Lionel Messi converted a penalty into a goal.

Following this first goal from Messi, his fellow teammate and young 21-year-old young center-forward Julian Alvarez stunned everyone with an outstanding goal with his amazing solo run.

Notably, Alvarez’s goal came just five minutes after the brilliant penalty-converted goal from Messi in the 39th minute of the match. Apart from that, the goal from Alvarez came when the Croatian goalie Dominic Livakovic was already there in the middle after being booked by the referee.

Argentina maintained this unassailable lead till the whistle of the first half by the referee. In the second half, the fans were eagerly waiting to see some more magic from Messi. Although in the 69th minute of the match, Messi’s brilliance came in another form as he assisted Julian Alvarez in scoring an amazing and outstanding goal. It was also the second individual goal for Alvarez in this match.

Talking a bit more about Messi, he has now become the leading goal scorer for Argentina in the FIFA World Cup.

Now, Argentina will lock horns with the winner of the match between Morocco and France. The final of this prestigious football quadrennial will be played on the 18th of December.
