New Delhi: Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc was eyeing several big franchises. But he has withdrawn his name just before the auction. This decision by Mitchell Starc has spoiled the plans of many teams. The RCB team, captained by Virat Kohli, was willing to pay any price to join Mitchell Starc. This was the reason why he released many of his foreign players.
England Test captain Joe Root has also decided not to appear in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction on 18 February but Bangladesh’s tainted all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and India’s S Sreesanth are among 1097 players registered. Arjun Tendulkar, son of veteran Sachin Tendulkar and left-arm fast bowler, has also registered for the auction.
Arjun Tendulkar has kept his base price at Rs 20 lakh. 814 players from India and 283 from overseas have registered. These include 56 from the West Indies, 42 from Australia and 38 from South Africa. Stark, who last played in the IPL in 2015, will not be seen again in this T20 league while Root, who scored a century on the opening day of the first Test match against India, has not registered for the second consecutive time.
