Mumbai: India cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar on Friday donated Rs 50 lakh to tackle the coronavirus pandemic in the country, which has claimed 17 lives so far in India. As per the report, Tendulkar’s donation to the cause is the largest contribution made by any Indian leading sports personalities, some of whom have already pledged their salaries, while others have donated medical equipment to combat the outbreak, which has already claimed nearly 25,000 lives all over the world.
Yusuf and Irfan Pathan have given 4000 facemasks to the Baroda Police and Health Department, while Mahendra Singh Dhoni has given Rs 1 lakh through a charity in Pune. Wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Farrata runner Hima Das have announced their salary.
So far 23 thousand people have died worldwide due to corona virus, while more than 5 lakh people have been infected by it. In India too, more than 700 people have been infected by this deadly virus while 16 people have died.
