The nominations for the annual sports awards, which include badminton players Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty for the coveted Khel Ratna, have been formally confirmed by the Sports Ministry.
Chirag and Satwik, bronze winners from the World Championships, silver medalists from the Commonwealth Games, and gold medalists from the Asian Games, will be recognized with the awards by President Droupadi Murmu. Shami’s remarkable performance in the ODI World Cup, where he took the most wickets (24 in seven matches), also played a part in his recognition.
