New Delhi. In pursuance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for the development of tourism in Ladakh and under the leadership of Union Minister of State for Tourism and Culture (Independent Charge) Prahlad Singh Patel, Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering (IISM), Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, Gulmarg Ministry of Tourism Autonomous Institute of India – Indian Institute of Travel and Tourism Management (IITTM) Has started an adventure tourism training course in the field of trekking.
This is the first of its kind course in the region, in which a ten-day training course is being trained and imparting practical experience to the local youth in various aspects of mountain trekking. More than 30 local youth have been admitted in the first batch, which started on September 29, 2019. About 90 local youth will be trained in three batches.
The training program will be completed on October 12, 2019. The trekking program commenced with a brief description, in which Spithu, Thein, Jinchen, Rumbac, Stock La Base, stock participants will reach Leh in 10 days. The goal of this training is to develop basic trekking skills among the youth. Later these youth will be able to use these skills to become guides or entrepreneurs.
