MUMBAI: Delhi Capitals defeated Punjab Kings by six wickets in the IPL match on Sunday, scoring two points thanks to a tremendous innings of 92 runs by opener Shikhar Dhawan.
Punjab scored a challenging score of 195 for four in 20 overs at the Wankhede Stadium with Atishi half-centuries from Mayank Agarwal (69) and captain Lokesh Rahul (61) but Delhi won an easy victory by scoring 198 runs for four wickets in 18.2 overs. . This is Delhi’s second win in three matches, while Punjab suffered their second defeat in three matches.
For Punjab, Mayank and Rahul made a crucial partnership of 122 runs in 12.4 overs for the opening wicket. Mayank was more aggressive in this partnership and he hit seven fours and four sixes in his 36-ball innings. Mayank was caught by Lukman Meriwala in the hands of Shikhar Dhawan.
Rahul then added 20 runs for the second wicket with Chris Gayle. After Rahul completed his half-century, Cagiso Rabada was caught by Mark Stoinis at the ball. Rahul hit seven fours and two sixes in his 51-ball 61. Gayle hit a six in 11 runs off nine balls.
Deepak Hooda was unbeaten 22 off 13 balls with the help of two sixes, Nicholas Puran scored nine runs with the help of a four off eight balls, while Shah Rukh Khan scored a four and two sixes in an unbeaten 15 off just five balls. Shahrukh hit two fours and a six in the last over of the innings of Chris Woakes. For Delhi, Rabada, Meriwala, Vox and Avesh Khan took one wicket each.
