Chennai: Mumbai Indians won the toss and decided to bat first. The team scored 137 runs at the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. Rohit Sharma scored the highest 44 runs. Delhi achieved the target of 138 runs by losing 4 wickets in 19.1 overs.
With this win, Delhi has come second in the points table with 6 points. Royal Challengers Bangalore also have 6 points. He is at the top on the basis of better run rate. This is the second defeat of Mumbai Indians in the tournament. He is fourth in the points table with 4 points.
Mumbai Indians batted first after winning the toss. Despite the early dismissal of opener Quinton de Kock (2), Mumbai scored 67 runs for one wicket in 6.5 overs. On the last ball of the seventh over, Suryakumar Yadav (24) was dismissed as the second batsman and after that Mumbai’s innings faltered.
Rohit Sharma tried to handle the team by playing an innings of 44 runs, but the batsmen could not sustain at the other end. Ishaan Kishan (26) and Jayant Yadav (23) played a struggling innings and brought the team to a respectable score.
The credit of stopping Mumbai Indians by 138 goes to leg-spinner Amit Mishra. Amit Mishra took 4 wickets for just 24 runs in 4 overs. He dismissed Rohit Sharma, Ishaan Kishan, Hardik Pandya and Kiran Pollard.
Delhi Capitals had a poor start. Opener Prithvi Shaw was dismissed after scoring just 7 runs. Shikhar Dhawan, who is in excellent form, kept his team on the winning track by playing 45 runs innings despite this setback. He also got the support of Steve Smith (33) and Lalit Yadav (22).
