ICC postpones decision on T20 World Cup till 10 June

New Delhi. The International Cricket Council (ICC) deferred a decision on the future of the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia on Thursday 10 June, as it is considering emergency plans amid a Corona virus epidemic that stalled the cricket program.

The ICC has launched an investigation into concerns over the ‘secrecy’ of its operations. The Board believes that there has been a breach of confidentiality in the last few days. The T20 World Cup was scheduled to be held from October 18 to November 15, but due to the Covid-19 epidemic, it is being speculated to be postponed and this window is currently being used to host the postponed Indian Premier League.

The ICC said after the board’s teleconference, “The board urges the ICC management to continue discussions with various stakeholders regarding various emergency options in view of the constantly changing public health situation due to the Covid-19 epidemic.” ‘

It has been learned that most of the discussions during the meeting took place with confidential information including internal emails which were leaked. Chairman Shashank Manohar and board members discussed it. According to an ICC release, “Many board members have recently expressed concern over this issue and believe that it is imperative to take care of it immediately to ensure integrity and confidentiality in board matters given the top level of operations.”
