Hockey India announced 18 members, of the Indian squad, on Friday for the upcoming men’s hockey World Cup 2023. The team will be led by Harmanpreet Kaur with Amit Rohidas as his deputy. The world cup is to be held in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela from January 13 to 29 January.

India’s first match in the World Cup will be against Spain at the newly built Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela. India will play the second match with England. After the match against England, the Indian team will play their third match against Wales in Bhubaneswar. Whereas the knockout matches will start on January 22 and crossover matches played on 22 and 23 January.

As per the schedule, The quarter-finals will be held on January 25 and the semi-finals on January 27. The final and bronze medal match held on 29 January.

Goalkeepers: Krishan Phatak, PR Sreejesh

Defenders: Jarmanpreet Singh, Surender Kumar, Varun Kumar, Nilam Sanjeep Xess, Harmanpreet Singh (c), Amit Rohidas (vc)

Midfielders: Manpreet Singh, Hardik Singh, Nilakanta Sharma, Vivek Sagar Prasad, Shamsher Singh, Akashdeep Singh

Forwards: Mandeep Singh, Lalit Upadhyay, Abhishek, Sukhjeet Alternate Players: Rajkumar Pal, Jugraj Singh
